Lumberjack Camp Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients: 2 tablespoons dry yeast, 1/8 teaspoon sugar, ½ cup lukewarm water, ¾ cup slightly melted butter, ½ cup sugar, 1 ½ cups buttermilk (heated), 2 tablespoons nonfat dry milk powder, 3 eggs (lightly beaten), 2 teaspoons salt, 6 cups flour, ¾ cup butter (softened), 1 cup packed light brown sugar, ¼ cup cinnamon, ½ teaspoon nutmeg, cream cheese frosting

Directions: Dissolve the yeast and the 1/8 teaspoon sugar in lukewarm water in a small bowl. Combine ¾ cup melted butter and ½ cup sugar in a bowl and mix well. Stir in yeast mixture, buttermilk, milk powder, eggs and salt. Add flour, stirring until blended. Knead the dough on lightly floured surface for 5 minutes. Place in a heated buttered bowl, turning to coat the surface. Let rise, covered with a damp towel, in a warm place for 1 hour. Punch the dough down. Let rest for 5 minutes. Roll the dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Spread with ¾ cup softened butter. Sprinkle with a mixture of brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Roll as for a jelly roll. Cut into twelve 1-inch slices. Arrange the slices cut side up in a buttered 9 by 13-inch baking pan. Let rise in a warm place for 30 to 40 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until light brown. Spread the warm rolls with cream cheese frosting. Yield

Famous Dave’s Will Offer Chocolate Dipped Bacon and Bacon Flavored Ice Cream at This Years Taste of Colorado!

by admin ~ September 2nd, 2009

Chocolate dipped bacon, and bacon flavored chocolate ice cream are sure to be 2 of the favorites at this year’s Taste!

Denver, Colorado 9/2/2009 — Get ready to lick your fingers and smack your lips! Famous Dave’s in Denver has just announced that it will be selling Famous Bacon at this years, A Taste of Colorado over Labor Day weekend. Chocolate dipped and flavor spanked bacon best describes this flavorful combination, said Joel Bryant, Director of Operations, for Basic Food Group, a franchisee of Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que. It’s just the right combination of sweet and salty, continued Bryant.

Famous Bacon, also known as Pig Lickers in other markets, was launched at the Minnesota State Fair, by Famous Dave’s last year to raving fans, and has gained a somewhat cult following and spawned several knock off versions of the original. We have recreated the recipe that had vegetarians eating bacon at last year’s Minnesota State Fair.

“Seeing the reaction on a guest’s face when they bite into Famous Bacon is the best part. There is always some hesitation because the combination is unique, but once they get the crunch from the bacon and the chocolate starts to melt in their mouth, they are hooked!” said Joel Bryant. “A Taste of Colorado is a great venue for us to introduce this product to the Denver market and let everyone know what they have been missing.”

Another new product being introduced combines three unique flavors, and is also destined to be a huge hit. Bacon, ice cream and chocolate can only mean one thing…. deliciousness. Bacon Ice Cream! That’s right Famous Dave’s will be selling bacon flavored chocolate ice cream, with bacon sprinkles. “We have been preparing and perfecting this recipe for almost a year now and can’t wait to see people enjoying this “Famous” product, said Joel Bryant. A Taste of Colorado is a great place for us to introduce new items, and have fun with our guests. It’s a great weekend, and we have a strong feeling it’s going to be even better with the new products on our menu.

The best part about the introduction of the new items is the price. Both are being offered at a very affordable price in order to encourage people to try them. 3 slices of chocolate dipped bacon will cost 4 tickets or the equivalent of $2.50, and a 4oz. serving of Bacon Ice Cream will cost 6 tickets or the equivalent of $3.75.

Our booth is located near the KYGO Country stage, stop by, say oink, and enjoy the best ribs in America!!

Famous Dave’s Beloved Mascot Wilbur is making a difference!

by admin ~ April 1st, 2009

Wilbur took a trip to Childrens Hospital in Denver Colorado over the weekend and met a very special new friend. Wilbur could not wait to announce his new friendship with a beautiful 4 year old girl named Taylor. Taylor has touched the heart of not only Wilbur, but the entire Famous Dave’s family.  Please see the story below written by Taylor’s family and visit the link to learn more about Taylor and her touching story.  taylor-2

Ok, so take one look at this picture and try not to fall in love.  I dare you.  And this isn’t anything compared to the sweetness that followed when she woke up.  She was so happy that Wilbur and his entire family came to stay.

I met Marlon down at the main entrance along with his beautiful daughter.  They brought SIX “Wilburs” and a baby “Wilbur”.  Not only that but they brought us dinner.  We got to have the oh so wonderful Famous Daves for dinner - bbq’d goodness from the meats to the potato salad to the bbq beans to caramel and vanilla bread pudding.  And not only THAT but Tay has been talking about “shredded bbq” for the past 3 or so days and there it was in the bag for her.

This was from the Thornton, CO Famous Dave’s and I understand that the owner also owns the others here in the Denver area as well as the one in Colorado Springs.  If you’re in the area, stop by and please join us in thanking them for having such a big heart and for having such incredibly sweet and caring employees.  Marlon came down here on his own time all the while telling me iwilbur-and-taylor-at-childrens-hospitalt was the least he could do.

Bless you all that made this happen - Jean, Mike, Marlon, and anyone else who worked on this to make it happen.  You made this little princess’ night, you helped her forget about this nightmare she’s been enduring.  and I thank you for that.  Right now she’s laying in bed with the entire “family” and is just as happy as can be.  Being her momma and being able to cry happy tears for the first time in two weeks is so very welcomed.  Thank you.

This is Tay and Wilbur.  I just spoke with him on the phone and his true name is Marlon.  He remembered Tay from Sunday down to her sucking her thumb the entire time.  What a nice man.  He will be driving down here tonight after he gets off work to hand deliver the new Wilbur.

If you have a Famous Dave’s in your area please give them a visit.  We have always loved their bar-b-que goodness and now have even a better reason to go.

There seems to be so much bad in the world but today’s events are reassurance that there is so much more good.

Famous Dave’s in Colorado announced today they will be vending at Coors Field during Colorado Rockies home games. With a vending cart located in left center field opposing teams are definitely going to be at a disadvantage smelling the mouthwatering hickory smoke the Dave’s fans have come to love.

Enjoy another great Rockies season, but this year do it with a rack of ribs in your lap!
